When Heath Ledger died, he hadn't updated his will, which he wrote before his daughter Matilda was born. So all of his money went to his father. He was also in the middle of making a film at the time. Johnny Depp, Colin Farrel and Jude Law stepped in to finish the movie. They also donated all their salary from the film to Matilda.

Given that Heath and Michelle bought their Boerum Hill home for 3.5 million dollars, I kind of feel like I'd think more of Depp, Farrel, and Law had they donated their salaries in Heath's name to some charitable organization for children.
