When Heath Ledger died, he hadn't updated his will, which he wrote before his daughter Matilda was born. So all of his money went to his father. He was also in the middle of making a film at the time. Johnny Depp, Colin Farrel and Jude Law stepped in to finish the movie. They also donated all their salary from the film to Matilda.

That's some grandfather. "She will be provided for." Yeah, it sounds like he has a great track record in that regard. Yay for the class act of Johnny, Colin and Jude.

I mean, her mother has money, too - she's not going to starve or anything. It's more that this way she gets some sort of legacy from her father.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was relevant. I also wouldn't be surprised if some men who aren't fathers would have done it, too, just out of human kindness, but I would not be surprised that all of them were stricken with "what if I died and MY kids didn't get anything for some reason?"

Given that Heath and Michelle bought their Boerum Hill home for 3.5 million dollars, I kind of feel like I'd think more of Depp, Farrel, and Law had they donated their salaries in Heath's name to some charitable organization for children.
