I am 40 and grew up in NY and NJ.


# 1. A body of water, smaller than a river, contained within relatively narrow banks? Creek
# 2. The thing you push around the grocery store? Shopping cart or wagon.

# 4. The thing that you cook bacon and eggs in? Not bacon of course, but I use a frying pan for eggs.

The popular answer among the folks across the pond seems to be "rolly polly" -- and I have no idea what they're talking about.

How long has it been since lunch boxes were metal?

Hero if hot, sub/submarine if cold.

I've never heard that distinction before. Thank you.

you've never seen a roly poly? They are very cool. Some people call them stink bugs.

The Hero vs. Sub thing I hear most often up North.

Ooh, bad image -- a local lunch place (now out of business, but this isn't why) sold "roly-polies" -- which is to say, "wraps" (tortilla-like bread filled with sandwich stuff and rolled up like a burrito). Other than that, I have never before heard the term "roly poly".

I don't know what a stink bug is either. I'm just a hopeless city kid, I guess.
