I am 40 and grew up in NY and NJ.
# 1. A body of water, smaller than a river, contained within relatively narrow banks? Creek
# 2. The thing you push around the grocery store? Shopping cart or wagon.

Only a New Yorker would think to differentiate between round and square pies. :)

I'm guessing the other possible answer here is "cellar" But cellars and basements are not technically the same thing.

How long has it been since lunch boxes were metal?

I grew up near Pittsburg, PA, but my mom's from NJ.

8. Soda, sometimes Coke but sometimes ginger ale, Sprite or Dr. Pepper.
9. Pancake.
10. Hoagie, or a sub, but I didn't really grow up with them.
11. Swimming trunks.
12. Sneakers.
13. Tidying.
14. both firefly(NJ)/lightning bug(PA).
15. Weevil? (I think that's a Southern thing.)
16. Teeter-totter! also called see-saw.
17. Take a bite of the tip/sides and a bite of the crust - even out the cheese/bread ratio, until the crust is gone.
18. Yard sale, or garage sale.
19. Dinner.
20. Basement.

Date: 2003-12-04 11:09 am (UTC)Ooh, bad image -- a local lunch place (now out of business, but this isn't why) sold "roly-polies" -- which is to say, "wraps" (tortilla-like bread filled with sandwich stuff and rolled up like a burrito). Other than that, I have never before heard the term "roly poly".
I don't know what a stink bug is either. I'm just a hopeless city kid, I guess.
