No hot water

I was just about to take a shower - seriously, I'd gathered towels and everything - when our phone rang. Landlady. We have cold water right now, but no hot because our hot water tank (our apartment has its own - we live in a two-family) broke. And leaked. And flooded. Last night.

She's expecting the plumber.

So. No shower for me. *sigh* And note - before 9AM, too. I was all proud of myself.

That is incredibly frustrating!

You cannot imagine. My kitchen is a complete an utter disaster because I made chicken soup and there's still detritus from that, plus we had dinner after 11PM last night, and no one wanted to wash dishes afterwards. Here's a tip if you ever get a rice cooker (and if you cook a lot of rice, as we do, it's a good investment.) DON'T let it sit out to dry overnight.

And my cleaning person is here, too. She said no hot water wouldn't be a problem... (That was one expense we decided to keep when I lost my job. I cook just fine, but I'm bad at cleaning. She keeps the apartment livable, despite all the thousands of books.)

We do have a rice cooker -- it is one of my most invaluable kitchen tools; I adore it -- and yes, I have learned my lesson about leaving it to sit overnight. *wry grin*

I'm glad the cleaning lady is able to work without hot water! \o/
