You have to repeat the import if you want to keep things synchronised.
It doesn't work in reverse, but crossposting is on the roadmap and should be coming in the near future. Meanwhile, I think I heard that Semagic(?) can handle crossposting for you.
Yeah, you have to run the import multiple times if you want to keep getting your LJ contents into your DW account!
We will have automatic crossposting into the software soon -- where you can update on DW and have it appear on your LJ, and you'll be able to choose whether or not to allow comments in both places or leave comments off on LJ and insert a "comment here on Dreamwidth" link back to the DW post. It's not finished yet, but it will be Real Soon Now™ :)
