After crying through half of Bones, I had to cry through half of House, too? NOT NICE, Fox. Not nice at all.

(House was brilliant. Everything made emotional sense. Too bad we need to wait for the fall for the emotional fallout. Bones felt rushed. Not the episode so much as... this is not how you end a season-long mystery. That they had a regular be the apprentice was courageous, especially one as loved as Zach, but it can't come from nowhere and it really felt like it did. Right now, I'm blaming the strike.)

See my post, I go into why I think I can buy zack falling into a plotline like this and why I think it got messed up. And yeah I think missing 6 - 7 eps really did it.

That would work if I didn't suspect this solution was something they dreamed up just before shooting the final episodes. See, while I have no idea when they *decided* Zack was the apprentice, according to an interview, the actor wasn't told until after the strike.

What seemed to have been sacrificed was a storyline dealing with his experience in Iraq - which may have lead to this development, of course.

The strike is totally to blame for not flushing out the Gormagon story-line more. And I think Zach's experience in Iraq could have fit nicely into his falling for the master.

I do have to say, though, that I'm glad it wasn't Sweets--WAY too obvious, which meant really lazy writing, and as much as I love Bones, I would have stopped watching had it been him. For a time, I thought it was Cam--I mean, she IS the one that works with flesh, and was the cop. I picked her before the strike, and she made the most sense to me (aside from Sweets, or Hodges--but again, both were way too obvious).

The strike had nasty consequences for most shows, I think--except LOST. It's been excellent in it's post-strike eps, and because they've added an extra hour to the post-strike run, and an extra hour to the last two seasons, we really aren't short-changed as far as episode hours go (when alls said and done, we'll make up the 3 hours the strike originally shaved off the post-strike episodes).

I think the strike helped Grey's Anatomy, too, and it at least didn't hurt House.

I was hoping it was Cam, but that's because, well. I watched the first season but not the second or much of the third (scheduling conflicts), and picked it up again this year.

Zack has been around from the beginning. To me, Cam is an interloper (I admit she fits in very well, and I do like her, but still), but not as obvious as Sweets, whom I like. So I spent the episode hoping it was her. Ah, well.

That's exactly what I said to Cary! That she's not an original member of the group, and there's been resistance to accepting her, even though it's a lot better now than it was.

I don't watch HOUSE, so can't comment on that. And Grey's has been better too (lots less whining on Mere's part!). So let me revise that statement--the strike's effect has been either good (LOST/Grey's/HOUSE) or bad (BONES, The OFFICE, How I Met Your Mother), not in between. ;-)

House ripped my heart out and danced on the pieces. Sigh. I love Amber.

It really DID feel like it was out of nowhere. We had no hints that Zach was in any way "off". Hell, I thought it was Sweets from the start, even before they said he was a suspect.
