I've been tossed out of stories for all sorts of things, from bad fundamentals to overuse of tropes (I want to ban the word "lemon" from any and all SGA stories *unless* it has a bearing on the plot. And I managed to write entire series of Sentinel stories without once mentioning eye-color, or even the word "Guide.")

This time, I was tossed out because of *formatting*. The sans serif font was perfectly fine, as was the dark brown text on white. Neither would have been my choices, but they were perfectly readable.

Why, oh, why did she center the text?

It's actually a new mistake I'm about to write to her about -- when I read the story a couple days ago it wasn't centered.

I never understand that choice. The only explanation I could possibly imagine is that they meant to center the whole block on the page, but leave the text left-aligned inside the block element, and somehow have a browser with a weird bug that has different inheritance rules for the center attribute so that in theirs it actually displays that way, even though everything is all centered in all other browsers. I mean, I just can't wrap my head around the idea that they want a longer text like that.
