Hopefulness and acquisitions

I got my replacement PDA today. It's a reconditioned Tungsten C - and it's actually in better shape than my old one. My old one had a crack in the keyboard while my new one only has some scratches on the case. It's all nicely resync'd, and while I lost stuff since my last sync, that's okay.

I feel complete again.

I had to pick it up at the post office, which isn't too far from two craft stores - one a yarn shop with a rather poor selection and one a quilting/sewing store that also advertised yarn.

No, I haven't been cleared for knitting yet.

I went in anyway. And the yarn was in a corner of the store *but* it was floor to ceiling and they had a huge selection plus a winder and swift, a good collection of books and reference works and needles of all sorts. For the first time, I could understand why people love yarn stores.

I walked out with three skeins of lace weight alpaca in this gorgeous red. This, I hope, will become a lace scarf for my mother-in-law for Chanukah. It's something she requested, although she'll understand if I can't knit. And if I have enough leftover (and I think I will, even if I lengthen the scarf I'm thinking about), I'll make a triangle for *my* mother, who also looks lovely in red. I'm looking forward to knitting thread with tree trunks. (I'm thinking about these scarves.)
