1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
Oy, vey. Yes, and it provoked a family argument, too. I was the first girl born in my father's family since his mother died, and everyone *there* wanted me to be named for her, but my mother wanted to name me for her grandparents (Ashkenazi Jewish tradition is to name children for desceased relatives.) Apparently there were tears and several name changes, but my mother won.

2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
Yes, sort of. My father died a few years ago, so if we adopt a boy, we expect he'll have that name. And if we adopt a girl, we each have grandmothers. However, you can never predict what the child's name is until he/she is actually named.

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
David Frank. Same great-grandparents.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
I did rename myself when I got married in that I chose to use my married last name. I like my first name. At most, I'd choose to use my Hebrew name, Devorah.

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?
My mother chose a secondary spelling for my name, so people do use the primary one of Deborah. They also spell my nickname with a "y" instead of an "ie". Neither are annoying. My maiden name was mispelled constantly.

6. Any nicknames you are fond of?
MamaDeb started as a nickname, and I like it. I grew up being called "Debbie" and most people I know in real life use that, and others call me "Deb". I'm fine with all of that. My husband has a couple of personal nicknames for me and I like those, but they're for us to use.

Funny, I have the opposite happen all the time. A lot, which gets a bit annoying when every single email addy I have has it spelled my preferred way, so receiving a lot of misspelled email grates after a while.

Imagine if it's your inlaws who do it?

That would annoy me. OTOH, it would mean I had in-laws, which would be a very nice change :-).

How interesting! I'm also named after deceased relatives. My name is Ann-Christin, and I'm named after my maternal great-grandmother, Anna, and my paternal grandmother, Martha Christine. People mispell my name all the time, the most common mistake is to use a K instead of Ch and to omit the -. My last name, Haave, is also mispelled constantly. And I was nicknamed "Anka" in school.

I am lucky that I am *not* named after someone in the family. Neither Holly nor Kim. My family has a habit of repeating names.

There are 5 Charles, 2 Janets, 2 Adams, 2 Carols, 2 Elizabeths, 5 Johns, and I've lost track of a few others in all of my relatives. And that is my mother's side, my father's side, my stepfather's side, and my stepmother's side.

As to the typos thing, well, from my handwriting. I'd get mail to W'Sen among others for Wilson. Even Wolf. Tho', even as bad as my sig is, how they got Wolf from Wilson......

Nope, mine was Sedgwick, which always ended up with an extra e in the middle, at best. At worst, it often had various extra consonants, which usually rendered it unpronounceable.
