Last Night's House
May. 24th, 2006 10:56 amWow. Just. Wow. Intense, draining, wow. This is up there with "Three Stories".
One thing - the closed captioning identified Jack (the shooter) as "Moriarity". Was this ever done in out loud? Because. Yeah, Holmesian. (For those who don't know, Moriarity was Holmes' great nemesis.) No matter - extremely cool anyway.
I'm not the fastest on the uptake and I saw this after a fairly exhausting evening, so it took me most of the way through the episode to realize we couldn't trust *any* of the scenes - I knew something didn't make sense when they ate the fish tacos the first time, but since we didn't know he was hallucinating yet (did we? - I need to watch this again) I didn't know what he was.
And no hospital would put a man who had been shot next to the man who shot him. It just wouldn't be done, although watching them both eat pancakes one-handed was fun. Also fun? Watching House walk and dance on the steps, and just not use that cane. And be weirded out by it.
Not so much fun were the exploding body parts (I am glad they were also part of the hallucination) or House hitting Wilson. That was very, very hard to watch. One wonders if he wants to do so in real life, you know?
Also - I wonder who is the person he believes is three-four points ahead of his integer?
I don't know. I've had the night to digest this, and I still need to see it again knowing it was all in his head, but it was. Amazing.

So, what does the guy with the exploding body parts represent... House's fear of his own body? (Also, the tongue guy was real, and House thought he was an interesting case for some reason, so I wonder why that was and what happened to the guy? I guess we'll never find out.)
I don't remember him being identified as Moriarty out loud but when I saw it on a board the next day I thought it was very cool.
What really got me was the speech Moriarty makes at the end. Just hitting me that House questions himself that way... it was cool.

Date: 2006-06-04 04:47 pm (UTC)His leg will NEVER be healed. He lost a big chunk of muscle, and that leg will never be fully functional again - he'll always have to use a cane, always have to lift it to the position he wants. This was something we should have picked up on.
The best possible result would be that he would no longer be in pain, and that would be tremendous. The Vicodin isn't working any more - he's onto morphine - and it will only get worse as he builds tolerance to the drugs. If the pain goes, he can wean himself off of Vicodin. He doesn't enjoy being a drug addict - he just has to be in order to function. He'll be able to think, to concentrate. It won't make him a nicer person, or a more mobile one, but it would be a good thing.
