I have finally learned how to put on a sports bra without first taking off my regular one - a vital skill in a communal dressing room, and one that means I do not need to remember to put on a sports bra before going to work if I'm going to Pa-kua right afterwards. It's surprisingly simple.

Put sports bra on over regular one. Slip the regular straps off. Pull band of regular bra below band of sports bra. Unhook or pull over head. Yes, I know - it means regular bra is too big. But, honestly, I don't need more than minimal support for normal activities, so my bras go over my head already hooked. I still go the occasional day without one at all, although gravity affects even A-cup girls in time and those days happen less and less often.

Did you never learn the trick of taking off your bra without taking off your shirt?
When Hub and I were first together, he was endlessly amazed by that. It was better than Houdini for him.

Um. Yes and no?

I did learn that trick, but as an adult. My mother never did such a thing, and I doubt she knows how. (And she probably wouldn't, anyway. She's of the generously endowed sisterhood. She was very uncomfortable when she broke her wrist a few years ago, because she was unable to put on a bra until we bought her a zip up sports model.) I learned it from step by step instructions on rec.arts.sf.fandom, along with other women who'd asked.

I wonder if it's a Northern vs. Southern thing.

I know I almost never do it.

I learned how to switch from bathing suit to regular underwear under clothes (roughly the same thing) be the time I was 10 - the boys at camp were known for peeking from their changing area into ours, plus I had two brothers at home. I've also used similar moves (as an adult) to remove one long-sleeved shirt from under another when I've been wearing the two shirts for warmth, gotten too warm to continue, and don't want to just take off the top layer because the under-one is too form-fitting to wear by itself.
