Matching hat would work well. If you feel up for it, you could get either double-pointeds or a small circular needle and try this one in the round. (Or get both, and start it on the circular, and then switch to the DPNs at the top when you need them and are more comfortable working in the round.) But flat-and-seamed is fine if you're not ready for that leap.
