I hope everyone who celebrates had a wonderful Christmas today.

The shammas on the oil chanukiah just flared out, but the others - the remaining oil light and the two candles - are still burning. There's a constellation across the street where the Weasleys live (a very large family of redheads who are as sheltered from the secular world as the Weasleys are from the Muggle one.)

Today, I read the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide stories, and I went to see Brokeback Mountain, which I'll talk about later. And right now, there's a pot of meatball soup on the stove and my husband gave me a book that, as it turns out, I own. But that means he knows what I like.

Last night, we went to the synagogue Pre-Chanukah party. One of the members was selling her handmade jewelry and so I got a goldstone necklace. Just my taste and very lovely. I also played with fusebeads - little tiny cylinders that you place on a plastic form on eensy pins to make patterns. Then a grown-up irons it and the beads fuse together. I made a multicolored snowflake.

Tomorrow - tomorrow I'm working. So I'll write about Brokeback then. And read more Yuletide things, and arrive very late to the family Chanukah party.

Jonathan and I have our own chanukiyot. One uses oil and the other uses candles. Thus - two candles - the one for the day and the shammas.

This one of those times when you blink and realize that, even though you've seen someone everywhere and liked what she had to say, you actually haven't friended her yet.

Goes to rectify - and welcome!
