My husband's cousin Gracie (a lady in her seventies) died last night in a house fire. She'd called 911, but was dead in her kitchen when the firefighters arrived.

She was very much a lady - funny and smart and good to be around and we shall miss her, although not as much as her two children and their kids.

My condolences. She sounds like she was a wonderful person. I hope that her death was of shock, not smoke inhalation, in the sense that it would be more immediate and less painful.
