It's Friday afternoon. Friday *evening*.
We're going to a friend's house for dinner; lunch is a dairy salad (greens, goat cheese, pecans, dried cherries, chopped onion, vinaigrette) to be made on the spot. All I have to do is set the lights and make a pot of coffee.
It feels so strange not to have chicken and such in the oven, and it's so late.
On the other hand, I went to a store I'd never shopped in before. It's a little kosher store not far from the laundromat. I needed to pick up a few things for the house, so I went there with the intention of carrying the groceries home on top of the laundry in the shopping cart. And it was very nice - had exactly what I wanted, including nice fresh challah rolls. No fresh meat, just prepackaged cold cuts, but that's not a problem. And the people at the counter were attentive and, well. Nice. I'm going to go there again.
And the laundry cart thing worked out as planned, too.
Shabbat Shalom
