A Classic Case
Jun. 27th, 2002 10:15 pmThat's me. Among the weird stuff medical stuff that's part of my life is my skin. My hypersensitive skin and its hives. Except it's not so hypersensitive anymore. About five years ago, my body and immune system was put under a lot of stress - a combination of fertility treatments (lots of hormones and, eventually, a drug that reduces the immune system and increases the chance of implantation), a viral infection that hung on for weeks, sometimes manifesting in my stomach, sometimes in my respiratory system, and walking pneumonia on top of that, ignored for *weeks* because all I was doing was coughing, and that was nothing compared to soaring fevers and ouchy ovaries. And in the middle of all of this, came the hives.
But they've reduced according to the classic curve. My dermatologist is thrilled. So am I.
