My entry in the Woobies of Destiny Harry/Neville Fuh-Q Fest :

A Muggle Thing.
Rated G.

Only on the Fest Website for now.

This is for challenge #55: Neville is a Gryffindor, after all, and there is more than one way to be brave.

All Feedback appreciated.

I've been in love with the idea of this pairing since Order of the Phoenix. Neville is strong and grounded and very powerful and has always been that way.

He and Harry have more in common than a prophecy.

I finished this story at ConneXions, where JJ did the final beta'ing. If anyone knows her lj, I'd love to friend her.

"Neville didn't look back as he climbed the steps to the sixth year boys' dorm. ... Neville's back didn't stop itching until Harry, obeying Neville's wordless gesture, sat down on Neville's bed."

Don't know if this was your intention, but this passage reminded me of the Orpheus & Eurydice story, and that there are many forms of bravery including leaving your back unguarded to someone potentially dangerous. [And somehow, I knew that if Neville had turned around to check that the show of weakness would've lost Harry...]

I don't know if he would have lost Harry, but that was definitely a power move - "I told you to do somethng, and I am so sure you'll obey that I will not turn to make sure you do it."

I think Neville is going to find that his fellow Gryffindors will never look at him the same way.

And a good thing, too. Let the other Houses underestimate him.
