Extraordinary
Aug. 28th, 2002 08:05 pmI was reading the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen this evening. This is a comic set in late Victorian or early Edwardian times. I'm not sure, since I haven't read the first volume, but the gimmick is that the "League" consists of men like Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, Alan Quatermain, the Invisible Man and Captain Nemo. Which makes sense because the protagonists of those books were not unlike the superheroes of today's comics, except for the lack of tights.
And that got me thinking along other lines. Dr. Doolittle. Mary Poppins. And as I thought of Mary Poppins, another thought came to mind...Jane and Michael and maybe their younger brother and sisters must have pledged Gryffindor.
