I hope you didn't have it at the bagel place around the corner from you (Oh Bagel, or some name like that). Or rather, since you are evidently enjoying it, perhaps it makes more sense to hope you are having it there, since that would mean they've learned how to make one. As of a month or so ago, they were convinced that a "latte" means a regular coffee with extra milk. The person behind the counter tried to convince me that he'd worked in many cafés, and that all of them used that definition.

Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latte) says a latte is actually a cappuchino with extra milk. A cappuchino is 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, and 1/3 froth; while a latte is 1/3 espresso and nearly 2/3 steamed milk, with only about 1 cm of froth at the top.

I've only gotten plain coffee at Hot Bagels. Lt's hope they learned better, because, yeah, they're wrong. That, presuming they're using hot milk, is a cafe au lait.

I got the latte at Naidre's (advantage of not being strict on cholov yisrael), where they make it properly. And I'm thinking of having it more often because I'm supposed to drink more milk.

(And there's a dry cappuchino, too. That's a cappuchino with only the froth. I just found that out.)

No, cold milk from the plastic flagon it comes in. They insisted that the only difference between a latte and a regular coffee is the amount of milk, and I could not convince them otherwise.
