So. I played a lot of spider and looked up a lot of phone numbers. That was my day. Mindnumbing is a mild term.

In other news - we are now prepared for the Nine Days. This means we have sufficient underwear and socks to last us until Tisha B'Av, and we had meat for dinner in preparation for no laundry and no meat (except for Shabbat.)

I've been using 5" birch Brittanys for the second pair of socks (I can stop any time I want to. Really.) and I really liked the shorter length. But one snapped. I think I hold them too tightly, and the bamboo is more flexible - so I'm back to the 7" bamboo ones. Ah, well. I now have cable needles. Or something. Or I'll learn to hold them more lightly and buy another set so I have extras. One or the other.

How's everyone else been? Hugs flist. I've missed you *all day*.

And for those who care - http://mamadeb.vox.com/, although it's mostly just staking a claim.

I broke one of my 5" brittanys as well. If you go to their website you can find their email address - email them and tell them what size needle you broke and they'll replace it for free (and you don't need to prove you own the needle, or what type you broke).

This doesn't solve the problem of breaking more - and I love bamboo needles much more than the wooden ones, for the same reason of non-breakage. But it's nice to know you can get a replacement for free!

*Thank you*, James!

*Emails company*

And, yes. I think I much prefer the bamboos, which bend - oh, do they bend - but haven't broken.

I have sat on my bamboo needles many, many times. ;-) I actually ordered a set of bamboo 1s after I broke a wooden one, then discovered I could get a replacement. But I'm happier with the bamboos ones - I'm sending the wood ones to a friend, once I receive the replacement needle.

I've got those same needles. I haven't snapped any yet, but I know I will one of these days.

And, yeah. I prefer the bamboo, as well, but I haven't been able to get them in the shorter lengths that I like for socks.

I've managed thus far to avoid the sitting, but that will happen. It's..the bamboos are just grabby enough (I started with aluminums, and *hated* them too slick and heavy.)

You know. They *are* wood.

Maybe some sawing and sharpening...

Failing that, perhaps a letter writing campaign to Clover or Crystal Palace?

Also, I saw you knitting with them at the open house, and you gave me the name of the needles.

And until I broke one, they were fine. :)

Vox is SixApart's newest service (SA also owns Moveable Type and TypePad, as well as LiveJournal.) They seem to have decided that LiveJournal should be repositioned as another "MySpace" - that, in fact, the majority of its subscribers are high school and college age, and have set up Vox for adult blogging.

No one I know has plans to give up their livejournal or even to blog much on Vox, but should an exodus happen, we want to have our usernames. So we're staking claims.

Yes - for the moment, because it's in preview.

Do you want one?

Seems they lied to me.

I don't have any invites yet. You'll be the first when I do get them.

May I get one when you have a spare? (I, too, am just staking a claim, so if you have someone who actually wants to use the service, give that person priority.)
