It's 6:48. I put my chicken in the oven at 5:11. At 6:11, it wasn't even warm. Which means the oven isn't working. Again. This happens in very hot weather, sometimes. But it seemed to be warming up after I jiggered with it a bit, so I thought I'd give it more time. Nope.

The burners are working just fine, though, so I just put the chicken in a dutch oven on top of the stove. I've done this before, but it's very frustrating - Shabbat comes in at 8:11. It should be cooked by then. I hope so, or we'll be begging meals off of friends.

And I'm upset over other things that I don't want to talk about here - vacation plans, mostly. And I have a raging headache.

ETA: headache still with me, but after a half-hour's cooking, my chicken looks and smells almost done. Which means that we will have dinner and lunch. And if it's stewed rather than baked - well, I'd flavored it with curry anyway, and stewing works with curry.

So. Whine.

Curry is yum. If it's done right.


It came out very well. Husband has asked me to make it that way (on top of the stove) again. I think I will as a weekday meal, since it is so fast - a whole chicken in about a half-hour.

Oh, yes. I remember all too clearly the entire week I thought I was getting migraines, because my sinus headaches mimic them. And I am quite grateful for the diagnosis, even though I dread the times my face hurts.

Fortunately, mine respond to medication. Also - and I remember when I was thinking how much I was loving soup during that week - steamy things like hot drinks and soup and hot showers make a difference, too.

I wish migraines could be dealt with so easily.
