Wow, it's long.
I'm really liking what I've read so far, but I think I'll have to wait until later to finish it.

Wow. I've loved your little short things, but you must have been working on this for ages; it's excellently crafted.

And I really wish Rowling would write this sort of humanity and tenderness into her own books.

I'm about a third of the way through, and I'm enjoying it immensely. You have a deft and subtle touch with the sort of mannerisms that round out characters.

Hot damn! That was a seriously good piece of writing.

I know you probably hear it too much, but are you writing any original fiction? And if not, would you consider doing so?

Checks back. I started writing this in December...wow. The short things I usually write in less than day, sometimes less than an evening. This is the longest story I've written in years. But it wrote itself in many ways.

And I am so happy you liked it.

Thank you! Hugs.

*eyes wide*

Wow. Thank you.

Seriously.

Original fiction? I don't get asked that much, actually. I do have a couple of pieces - two chapters languishing on a harddrive we don't have access to right now and two or three paragraphs on my palm pilot and my computer at work (well hidden there, of course.)

I don't read a lot of HP, and I usually don't read Harry/Draco at all (I think this was the first longer Harry/Draco story I've read), but gave it a try, because I usually like your writing and D/s stories too, and I was surprised to find that I could believe their relationship. I mean, it's not how I think of Canon!Draco, but it was a step removed into a direction I could follow, and make me suspend my usual disbelief about Harry and Draco wanting a romantic relationship with each other.

I really enjoyed this story, for so many reasons. First of all, the meaty length of it--I find HP to be characterized by lots of short fic (or long fics posted in brief installments.) Many of them are lovely, but I have missed sinking my teeth into more substantial stories. Thanks for giving me several uninterrupted hours of reading pleasure.:)

What I really enjoyed here was the characterization. I like characterization that makes sense-- consistent within the confines of the story, sure--but it's also a joy to read characterization so thoughtfully depicted. To me, characterization that's illuminated by explicit depictions of sex isn't 'kink-fic'--but it is darned good writing. The sex here didn't feel at all gratuitous. (Not that I'm knocking gratuitous sex, mind you. This story just provided more than that.)

Along those lines,I loved your portrayal of Snape. IMHO, subby!Snape resonates with canon, in a way that even the most well-written, masterful fanon!Snape (no matter how hot) can hope to do. And I love that it's subtext in your story (or at least subtly rendered.) I miss subtext, sometimes--love of subtext is why I'm a slash fan, after all. I'm sure i'm not the first to say it.

So I'm all aglow with admiration for this story--it's deep enough to have layers. But I still had moments of fangirlish delight:

Harry was kind to me

I did kind of melt when I read this.

And you persuaded me about the Harry/Draco relationship--(it's not my favorite pairing in this fandom)and I loved how you depicted the nuances of power in their relationship. I liked that you showed how Harry needs Draco, and I was very fond of the way you had Harry set up the scene to ensure Draco's safety. (putting his wand on the bookshelf, so Gryffindor-ish).

And 'Snape' as a safeword, and joking about their various teachers' sex lives--the teenagery-ness of it rang true to me.

There's more I want to say about the story, but I'm going to post this before lj eats it. I liked it a lot, and I'm going to re-read it several times tomorrow, I can tell.

I truly enjoyed this story, well-written and very thoughtful though sometimes I would have liked a bit more background as you only hinted at a lot of backstory from year 6 and at the end a bit rushed. Or maybe I just have to reread the story to see if I missed something by my first read.

But overall a very lovely story with a good characterization of Harry and Draco. I liked it very much how slowly their relationship developed and how needy in many ways they both were but also how both needed each others strength. Very hot the hints you offer about their relationship though I also enjoyed Harry with Zach.

The relationship between Snape and Dumbledore was one I found very fitting with canon. Needy, sub Snape fits very well, despite his temper and anger.

I also liked that you addressed issues that so often get lost in fanfiction like Harry's anger and the whole inbreeding question. I find that something that is generally too ignored in fanfiction though it should be a major issue.

And the end with the house-elves helping and Harry and Neville together defeating the Dark Lord that was very unique and not something I'd seen done before.

I hope you don't mind that I'll rec the story in my LJ.

I haven't read this story yet... but I do plan to. (I don't read much slash, but when it's good I like it and it sounds like this one is good.)

Basically I found your LJ through a link from one of my online friends as I come from a similar background as you (hope that's OK to mention here) and I write NC-17 (het, at least so far) fics. (I do write other ratings as well.)

Most of what I write is for the anime Hellsing but I am working on a couple of Harry Potter stories also which are Severus/Hermione.

You're welcome to check out my LJ if you want to know more about me and the issues I'm dealing with... thanks and sorry if this is intruding.

I preface these remarks with the caveat that I suck at feedback because I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words. But I will try.
My first reaction was wow! That was great.
After digesting the story, I can repeat, wow, that was great! It spoke to my love of well written long stories (and to my sekrit D/S [well, not so secret now that I've said something] kink as well)
I loved the length of it - sometimes shorter stories miss characterization or plot points because they are shorter (not yours, but in general) and this was definitely a story that needed the time spent to tell the story.
I also enjoyed the fact that the characters were growing up, but weren't miraculously adults or weren't adult in body, but childish in mind. I think you did a good job showing the growing part.
And the last thing I'm going to mention is your imaginative method of destroying Voldemort. I've never seen that take on the problem before and I think I like it.
So, anyways, yasher kochaych on a great story.
Will there be a sequel? *puppy dog eyes*
