Election Night Plans

Jonathan is having dinner at his parents, before going to a class.

My plans are to watch results and knit. But dinner also has to happen.

Normally on Tuesdays I eat out, but not tonight. Tonight I dismembered a couple of chickens, and when I froze the component parts (legs, breast filles and wings, with the carcasses in the stock bag), I left out one leg. I dredged it in flour and browned it off, removed it and then sautéd mirepoix in oil with salt, pepper and thyme until the onions were soft. I added about 1.5 cups of homemade stock (the last of what I'd made for yom tov) plus about a teaspoon of white wine vinegar and put the chicken leg back in. It's braising in the oven now. I'll make noodles and frozen spinach. If we had some white wine, I'd pour myself a glass.

And whatever else happens - hearing the stories of the record turnout has been amazing. I'm very proud of my country tonight.
