Gotham Central
May. 17th, 2004 07:08 pmI was just struck by how well this comic is done. Even though it takes place in the DC universe with the metas and aliens and Amazons, and in the special weirdness that is Gotham, for most of the book, I feel like it's a comic version of Law & Order or NYPD Blue, and that's a compliment. These are normal humans for the most part with normal lives. They don't live in spandex . They wrestle with paperwork and files and thieves and gangs and being outed.
Then when it's Mr. Freeze or the Joker or they have to deal with a Bat it's a jarring note. And that *they* take it in stride brings home that they live in a different universe more than any costume.
Nicely done.
