Hebrew Birthdays

It's mine. Also my older brother's. The date is Chai Cheshvan, the 18th of the month of Cheshvan. It's also his English birthday. That's odd in that his age is *not* a multiple of 19, when that sort of thing tends to happen.

So. We invited my brother to dinner, which I cooked. Marc is very fussy, so I had to be careful.

I made mesclun with yellow tomatoes and red onion in a mustard/garlic vinaigerette of cider vinegar and plain olive oil; panfried trout files spiced with citrus pepper and served with steamed brussel sprouts and baked potatoes; pears and brie. We had a nice white wine that went well with the fish and the cheese.

I'm pleased.
