I have not voted yet. I will right after work - polls opened at six but I don't. In fact, I got started late enough that I took a car to work. Told the driver to vote and to make sure he had ID if he never voted before. Did the same for the two agents who told me that they've never voted (in their defense, they are both immigrants.)

I will vote. I want everyone who can to vote even if they vote for the man I do not support (although, well. Kerry! Please!) Because if Bush does win (chas v'shalom), I want it to be decisive - I want no reason for recounts or dirty tricks or anything. The events four years ago damaged our country beyond putting Bush in the White House and it can't happen again. I don't want to think about what would happen.

I still want a different president. For my birthday. (Today is Hebrew; Friday is civil.)

So, vote. Please.

Voted I have. My polling place, a Catholic nursing home, was more crowded than I'd ever seen it. Given the location and the neighborhood, I somehow don't think it ever held quite so many yarmulkes...

And I could tell that the people around me had never voted before - just the way they weren't even sure where to vote. Me? I was the only one on line at my district table, but a girl was before more in the booth. Given her age, it was probably her first election. She took a long time, but I don't grudge her. You're only a virgin once.

My vote took seconds, as I voted the straight ticket. And then I came home.
